Thank you for the update. This is essentially the same text you wrote on July 23, 2024. I understand this is not your fault, but don't you have some more info? How long are critical bugs like this usually in a queue? Is this plugin still actively maintained or do we have to look for an alternative solution for our translations?

Thanks for your reply.

I've reviewed the report again and found only two forum tickets related to this bug. The report is currently marked as “waiting for verification,” which typically means it still needs to be confirmed by a developer before any fix can be implemented.

Since this issue isn’t affecting a large number of users, it’s currently in a lower-priority queue—I hope you understand. That said, I’ll make sure to update you here as soon as there’s any progress.

Thank you. I understand your need to prioritise issues, and if this was a free plugin this would be perfectly fine. But we should be able to expect more from a paid plugin. We have a website with 10,000+ daily users that relies on WPML to provide correct translations. WPML currently does not live up to this promise, leading to a reduced user experience for our international audience and forcing us to implement countless workarounds like hardcoded translations.

Since this is a 100% reproducible bug in a clean install, I find it hard to believe there are not more customers affected.

Thank you for your patience.

I wanted to follow up and let you know that I overlooked a response from our 2nd Tier Support earlier — my apologies for that.

Here’s what they’ve shared regarding the issue:

“It seems the issue is outdated and has been fixed long back. I cannot replicate this issue with WPML 4.7-develop and 4.6.14 as well.
Tested on primary language, secondary languages, different domains and different languages.”

I completely understand your frustration, especially given the scale of your website and the expectations that come with using a paid plugin. We absolutely take this seriously and appreciate the detailed feedback you've provided.

Since you mentioned this is a 100% reproducible issue on a clean install, I've provided a sandbox site here hidden link for you to help us escalate this with high priority. So, kindly replicate the issue on the sandbox site.

Your experience matters to us, and we want to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your reply and for looking into the issue again.
I installed my testing plugin in your sandbox. The plugin calls the 'wpml_switch_language' action in a loop, switching between English and German. It then outputs the test strings as a shortcode.

As you can see, the results vary greatly. On the German page, the first switch to EN does not work, but the following switches are working. On the English page, the switching does not work at all.

You can see the issue on this page:
