[Resolved] The existing glossary items is showing duplicate entries
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing duplicate entries of existing glossary items in WPML's Translation Management Tools Glossary. Solution: 1. Ensure that all WPML plugins are updated to the latest version. For example, update to WPML 4.6.6 and WPML String Translation 3.2.8. Before updating, make sure to save a backup of the site and database. 2. If updating does not resolve the issue, we are ready to investigate further and would require temporary access to the client's test site's wp-admin and FTP. The client should ensure that a backup is in place before providing access. 3. Our development team is aware of the Glossary Duplicate Entries issue and is planning to implement a fix in the next version of our Automatic Translation Editor. This update is expected to be released in a couple of days, and we will confirm back once it is done.
I would like to ask for temporary access to your test site’s wp-admin and FTP to investigate the issue further.
If necessary, I may need to replicate your site locally. To do this, I will temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” on your site, which will enable me to create a copy of your site and its content. Once the problem has been resolved, I will delete the local site. Please let me know if you agree to this.

We noticed,
The more often we restore the database, the more often the data gets duplicated from the glossary items.
We restored the database first-time, that time duplicate glossary items 2 times
We restored the database second-time, that time duplicate glossary items 4 times,
Now, restored the database third-time, we have duplicate glossary items 6 times.(Find the screenshot.)
Did we do something wrong in restoring the database?
Process - files/database from live to test site.
- Export and import database from live to test site
- Zip and unzip files from live to test site
- Search and Replace Links
- Change WPML and other plugin license key
- Allow file permission using this command : sudo chown -R www-data:www-data /path/to/website
I have received an update from our development team, we are planning on implementing a fix for the Glossary Duplicate Entries issue in the next version of our Automatic Translation Editor,
It is a matter of a couple of days until it gets updated, I will confirm back to you once done 🙂
