Background of the issue:
I am trying to resolve a 'Too Many Redirects' error occurring on the English version of our website. The issue is inconsistent and has been reported by several customers. We have checked for misconfigurations on the live site and confirmed that WPML settings are identical to those on the staging site, where the issue does not occur. Here are some screenshots from my side: hidden link, hidden link. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link.
Symptoms:
Users encounter a 'Too Many Redirects' error on the English version of the website.
Questions:
Could you please assist us in identifying if this is related to WPML?
Is there an underlying configuration that may be causing this behavior in the English version of the site?

Hello,
At the moment I am not seeing such error on: hidden link
It is very important for us to know how to trigger such issues. What does look unexpected to me is that the URL is including a date and the end, while the event should be available at:
/open-painting-offenes-atelier-freitags-2024/
I do not know any reason why WPML should make it redirect to:
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the site to investigate the issue further.
The required fields are below the comment section when you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it.
IMPORTANT
Please be sure to back up the site and database before granting us access.
If you cannot see the "wp-admin / FTP" fields, your post and site credentials will be set to "PUBLIC". DO NOT publish the data unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.
I may need to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" here to create a copy of the site that I can use to investigate the issue further.
However, I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site or copy of the website from your server for this purpose.
If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, you can consult your hosting provider. Please note that WPML must also be registered on this staging site at https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/.
If you are not able to provide such a copy of the website for testing, please let me know on this ticket.

Thanks a lot for getting back to us. It is true that this error has been difficult to reproduce, that's what is making it so frustrating. We know for sure though, that it is affecting real customers as we've been getting screenshots and reports. We've also stumbled on it on various devices with various browsers. But no clear pattern.
As for the URL you mentioned: The event you opened is actually a special case. It's part of a SERIES of events and The Events Calendar Plugin gives each instance the appendix "/YYYY-MM-DD/. See also these two URLs (same weekly event, two occurences in subsequent weeks). So this kind of re-direct actually seems normal.

Pretty much all other events are single occurences and not part of series.
We have a correction to our initial problem description: we have now actually also observed the issue on our STAGING site! I've created a video to show the issue on our staging site in an incognite browser:

Are there any other steps we could try for trouble-shooting that do not require FTP and WP admin access yet? We have quite strict legal/compliance regulations and would ideally like to check what other options we have available.

Please run the following test on your staging site:
Make sure that all plugins and the theme are updated. Take note that we have new plugin versions available at Plugins > Add new > Commercial > Check for WPML Updates.
1) Disable any additional plugins that are unrelated to "The Events Calendar" and WPML and our add-ons.
2) If the issue goes away, start by reactivating the plugins one at a time, or activate them in small groups. This way, check where the issue reoccurs to see the plugin that is causing the issue.
3) If this has not clarified the cause of the issue, please switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty-One to see if the issue may be related to the theme.
Once we have identified the cause, we can then try to replicate the issue and then escalate it internally. I will provide a test site with WPML in this case.
