This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client needed assistance with translating category descriptions using the Flatsome theme. Solution: 1. Edit the category in the default language. 2. Click the update button. 3. Switch the language from the top admin bar. 4. Add/Translate the custom meta fields. 5. Update the translated category.
Additionally, we requested the client to share their Debug information to better understand their site configuration. For instructions on how to provide this information, please follow this link: http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support.
If this solution doesn't look relevant, please open a new support ticket here.

1) Please try the following steps:

2- Click the update button
3- Switch the language from the top admin bar
4- Add/Translate the custom meta fields
5- Update the translated category
Kindly let me know if the above steps helped you fix the issue.
2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.
Thanks for your update. I translated one paragraph to check if the translation would work correctly. Please translate the whole text in the field and update the English category.
The workaround you provide does not work, it is possible that I am doing something wrong or overlooking something.
1) Please try the following steps:
1- Edit the category in the default language ( Category title or text ? In WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency > Category or Products > Category )
2- Click the update button ( Done )
3- Switch the language from the top admin bar ( Done )
4- Add/Translate the custom meta fields (Is this automatic? Because there is still an empty field after the previous steps)
5- Update the translated category (Done but as I said the text is not translated)
You need to add the translation of this category description manually in the product category editing screen.
Please try this:
- Go to Products > Categories
- Edit the Dutch category
- Switch the language to English from the top admin bar
- Add the English text (The translation of the original description)
- Click "Update" to save the category
- Repeat the same steps with the German category
I created a screen recording shows the above steps, please see here: hidden link
Okay, I already suspected that it would go this way, thanks for the confirmation.
Why is it not possible to translate the category text? Is this only with the flatsome theme?
Thanks for your confirmation that the mentioned steps fix the issue. This goes for all custom fields in the taxonomies, not only with Flatsome fields. These fields are not translated automatically because they are not WordPress default fields.
