Background of the issue:
I tried to edit my translations in bulk via spreadsheet. I exported all my posts from a CPT via WP All Export Pro.. These posts already had translations, so I can see all the posts and their respective translations in the CSV file as expected (translations have a different ID and I can recognize them).. I updated only my translations in the csv file and reimported it back to the site in the same plugin.. So far so good and I can see that my posts translations got updated, which is great as expected..

However, after this, if I want to edit any translation and click on the pencil from WPML, then WPML opens the advanced translation editor and simply overrides all my imported translations I've made for that post and rolls back to the previous translations.. So as long as I don't edit the translation in wordpress, all my bulk uploaded translations work, but I can't edit any of them in wordpress without WPML overriding them automatically in the translation editor with an old translation from before the CSV update..

Symptoms:
Practical example: My original post has a custom field called "Cookie" in EN and that translated field in PT is "Biscoito".. I export everything and edit the PT translation in the spreadsheet from "Biscoito" to "Bolacha" and reimport it.. It works fine and I can see the new word "Bolacha" in my posts as expected.. but then if I go to wordpress dashboard and click in the pencil to edit the translation, the translation editor opens and loads that custom field as "Biscoito" (the previous version) and not as "Bolacha" as I had edited.. So it is rolling back to how it was before the update.. The translation I imported in the spreadsheet "Bolacha", which I wanted to edit, disappeared completely and it rolled back to the previous translation..

Questions:
So my question is how I should export my posts and translations to edit in a spreadsheet and re-import them using WP All Import/Export Pro, and make WPML understand that this is the current version of that translation and if I want to edit anything it won't roll back to the last translation it had before i started this process?

Hello,

Thanks for contacting us.

While you wait for my colleague to take over the ticket, let me try to help you with the issue quickly.

I am afraid that is not possible, WPML editor will show translation done via WPML editor, not any imported or manually added content. It is expected and how it works.

The only way you can further edit your imported content is manually via the WP editor, and for this, you need to disable the WPML editor so it doesn't override you manually / imported content. Image attached.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Drazen
