I have translated my English Default site into four other languages (Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Thai & Vietnamese). I first did pages, then Bold Timelines (Post Type), and now I want to do my WpDataTables. I reached out to WPDataTables and they suggested translating tables by editing MO/PO using POEDIT or Loco Translate. I was wondering what method you suggest for translating WPDataTables. I was wondering if WPML has already developed a post-type translation filter for WPDataTables. What is your recommendation for translating WPDataTables? Please see this example: hidden link This particular table on the page is actually referenced multiple times but is pre-filtered to display a specific subset in the adjacent referencing paragraph. In total, I have approximately 30 tables to translate, with some being quite short. Looking ahead, I anticipate creating multi-column tables with thousands of lines. Managing these tables using String Translation in different languages seems impractical. I've found WPDataTables to be a powerful and user-friendly plugin with excellent support. It would be extremely helpful to have a straightforward post-type filter that integrates automatic translation. I greatly appreciate your feedback and guidance. Jason |

Hi Jason, Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today. WPDatatables is not officially compatible with WPML, so you might face issues translating the tables. Kindly check our compatibility list here. (https://wpml.org/plugin/) If the plugin authors suggested Loco to translate the tables, please search for the tables strings in WPML-> String Translation. Kindly check the following steps if you can't find the strings: 1- Go to WPML-> Theme and plugins localization, select your theme/plugin, and scan Kindly check our guide. (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/) I hope this helps you. If you need further info, please let me know. Best regards, |

Thanks for your feedback and definitive direction. I wasn't sure if I should be looking to get WPDatatables and WPML to work together to develop Post-Type Translation or use WMPL, POEDIT or Loco to do string translation or accept that I will have to translate and maintain 5 different language versions for each WPDatatable. I now know that I will have to manually translate and maintain 5 versions of each WPDataTable. I don't like this but I appreciate your candor. Question: Has WPML ever approached WPDataTables and discussed working to build a Custom / Post-Type Translation Filter? Has WPML ever discussed with WPDataTables about aligning and becoming a plugin partner and becoming officially compatible?. In the WordPress world, it just seems like a premium plugin like WPML, should leverage and partner with other premium plugins. |
