This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is unable to complete translations using WPML when HTML tags are present, causing the translation progress to show only 90% completion despite all translations being properly entered.
Solution:
1. Ensure you take a full backup of your website and database. It's advisable to perform these steps on a staging or development site first.
2. Update WordPress and all WPML plugins to their latest versions.
3. Make a minor change in the original language content of the page or post, save, and then update the translation.
4. If the issue persists, switch to the old interface of the translation editor. You can do this by clicking the gear-icon in the top-right corner to open the editor preferences, then activate the old interface.
5. Continue using the old interface until the new WPML/ATE version is released and updated on your site.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, or if the solution becomes outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to finish translations using WPML. We have previously reported issues with completing translations when HTML tags are present. I have screen recordings to demonstrate the issue, unfortunately they don't upload at the moment. The problem can be seen on this page: hidden link.

Symptoms:
Whenever there are HTML tags, the translation cannot be finished. I have to reload every translation page to see 100% completion. Despite all translations being properly entered, it still shows 90% and cannot be completed.

Questions:
Why does the translation show 90% completion even when all translations are entered?
How can I resolve the issue with HTML tags preventing translation completion?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support. Meanwhile this ticket is attended by one of my colleagues, I'll first recommend to fix the following:

IMPORTANT: Please take full backup of your website and database beforehand.

It is highly advised to try this on a staging/dev site first, so your live website isn't compromised.

- Update WordPress to the latest version.
- Update WPML plugins (i.e. String Translation and others) to the latest versions.

Then please try to make a little change in the original language content of the page or post, save and update the translation.

If this doesn't help resolving the issue, please try to switch to the old interface of the translation editor, when translating the content and see if this displays those missing content and if you're able to complete it to 100%?

To switch to the old interface, look for a gear-icon in top-right corner, and click to open the editor preferences. Then turn on the old interface, enter your feedback and submit. This 'll reload the editor with previous/old interface.

Please let us know your findings and we'll try our best to help you further on the matter.

Regards.

Hey,

I updated everything, didn't work. However when I change to the old interface everything seems to work perfectly.

Hello,
My name is Carlos and I will continue working on this ticket

Our development team is planning to release a new WPML/ATE version in the next two weeks. I would recommend continue using the old ATE interface and switch to the new one when the new WPML plugins are released and updated on your site.

Regards,
Carlos
