Hello there,

With that option, posts and it's translations will have same publishing dates. It will synchronize the publishing date when original is updated.

Thanks

Okay great, hope this fixes the issue. I just now got a notification that the following posts have been overwritten on the staging website in the past 12 hours (or were already overwritten before that). Staging is being checked every 12 hours:

- hidden link
- hidden link
- hidden link
- hidden link

I assume these were your findings and the ones you used to test, but just wanted to make sure!

Kind regards
Kelvin

Hello there,

Yes, those were my tests.

Looking forward to the results.

Thanks

Hi there

We're currently adding some new widgets to all our blog posts (both English and Dutch). When adding these to scheduled translations (of which the original was already published), we noticed that the full blog post got overwritten with English, again. And, to make it even worse for us, the (previously) scheduled post now got published all of a sudden (as you probably meant when saying that the dates get synced). We tested this on a few other posts and indeed it happens there too. We still have over 30+ translations scheduled of which the original is already online, and that we still need to add things to. We do NOT want them all to be published whenever we make a save or add something to either the original or translation. Which made us think: we explicitly chose to use the WP editor to "de-sync" and have no relationship between original and translation, but now the "copy dates to translation" adds a sync, again. Our translations have new, updated information in them and publishing them with a date back in 2024 or 2023 makes not a lot of sense for us. But then again even before we enabled your setting, translations that were supposed the be "un-linked" from their originals, still got overwritten (even though using the WP Editor was supposed to make sure there was no relationship between original and translation anymore). So your enabling of the setting is maybe a temporary fix, but it still seems like it's not an actual solution (and it also gives us tons of extra work and more things to be cautious about).

So our question is:
How can we actually completely un-link the translation from its original? Wasn't the WP editor supposed to give us that functionality (with or without copying the dates)?

Thank you
Kelvin

This post on the production website got changed today out of the blue, after 3 days of not touching it (while the copy published date setting was enabled).

This is quite literally driving us crazy...

Hello,

As this will only be tested on the live site, I would require a backup of your live site’s wp-content and database. This backup will be used to test the issue and escalate to the second-tier support team if necessary.

Additionally, this will help us eliminate any server differences. Could you please zip these files and share the links with me?

I have enabled the private reply feature for your convenience.

Thank you,

Hi

I've zipped both my wp-content as well as database. The sql backup is under 30 MB but gets an HTTP error when uploading. Also, my wp-content archive is over 8GB big so I don't know how to send it to you. I also don't know if it's actually necessary to send the wp-content, as it's exactly the same as on production currently. How do you want to proceed?

Also, I don't know if I misunderstood but do you also need access to our production website or not?

Thank you
Kelvin

Hello,

You can compress the wp-content folder without the wp-uploads folder. The size should be small. You can upload these files using Google Drive or Dropbox and share the links with me.

I do not require the production site login.

Thank you,

Hello there,

I downloaded the package but changing the scheduled posts doesn't results in any error, I move forward and tested the same in staging and it's working now properly.

Can you do the following on the live site:
- Create a test post
- Translate it
- Set the scheduled post time to 5 minutes from now or 3 min
- Let the scheduled post be published and see if it works.

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hi Shekhar

Is this with the copy publishing date setting enabled or disabled? So basically you didn't change anything or what is the solution/fix here?

Kind regards
Kelvin

Hello,

Without the options being checked, I do not have solutions yet. I am having difficulties replicating the issue myself. Therefore, I would appreciate it if you could test again on the live site to determine if the same steps are effective in replicating the issue.

Thank you.

Hi Shekhar

Hmm not sure if reverting back to the initial situation will fix the issue, but I will keep monitoring the website. We're using it quite heavily right now so I'm sure that we will be seeing something weird again sooner or later.

Kind regards
Kelvin

Hi Shekhar

I just got a notification that on the staging website (which we haven't touched for about a week), the following page was changed in the last 12 hours

hidden link

I checked it and other than the title, everything (including Table of Contents and links) have changed to the original. The Budapest post that was changed was published (scheduled) yesterday, and in the last 12 hours it was changed without our intervention. So it does also happen automatically on staging. Looking forward to a solution, as this indicates that the issue is still present.

Thank you
Kelvin

Hi there,

I can see the changes, but I still can’t reproduce it. It’s happening randomly, so I asked our 2nd tier supporters to see if they can help us figure out what’s going on.

I’ll let you know as soon as I hear back from them.

Thanks!

Hi there

This post just now changed:

hidden link

It was scheduled and published on June 12th, and changed without manual intervention on June 16th.

We were able to restore to a previous revision, but thought I'd let you know that the issue is still present.

Hope to have a fix soon.
Kelvin
