This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing an issue where a page translated from German to French using WPML's translator was not displaying on the frontend.

Solution:
First, we identified a conflict with the original language of the page and its translations. It appeared that the German page was set as a translation of the English page, and the French translation was made from German, which is not recommended. We asked the client to confirm the original language of the page.

After confirming that German was the original language, we disconnected the translations and reconnected them, setting German as the original language. We then resaved the translations, which resolved the issue and the correct content started showing on the frontend.

Additionally, we noticed that the English translation was set to "Waiting for Translator". We edited the page via WPML -> Translations, made a minor update to the original German page, and after reviewing and accepting the translation, the English page updated correctly.

We also advised the client to increase the WP Memory Limit to at least 128Mb, as the site's memory was below the required limit. We provided the code to add to the wp-config.php file:

/** Memory Limit */<br />define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');<br />define('WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');

If you're experiencing a similar issue, we recommend checking the original language of your pages and ensuring that translations are made from the primary language. If the problem persists, or if this solution seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, please open a new support ticket. We highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Please see my screenshots in the previous private reply from the chat. I am seeing the phrase you mentioned as translated.

Ifyou are referring to a different area of content than what I shared a snapshot of, please provide a screenshot so I know where to look. Thanks!

Hi Lauren,
I do not see the screenshots you reference here.

I uploaded my screenshots again. Hope you can see what's missing. Also, strangely, the page is out of order.

I can see that the title is translated but the content under the title is not showing the same as your translation editor screenshot. Please try the following steps:

1. Go to WPML -> Translation Management -> Translation Jobs and cancel the in progress job. If there is no in progress job, continue to the next steps.
2. Edit the default page. Make any small change and update the page.
3. Go to WPML -> Translation Management and send this page to the translation basket. Tick the checkbox, scroll down and click translate, then you will see the translation basket tab.
4. Click the translation basket and send the page to yourself as a translator.
5. Go to WPML -> Translations and take and translate the page. Save the translation 100% and then let's see if the correct content shows.

After this, do you see the translated content?

Hi there,

There is no "translation jobs" button or field or section within translation management, see attached. In fact, searching for "jobs" brings up nothing.

Also, why is the default language given as English here when it is German in the settings?

As our policy is to stick with one issue per chat/ticket, I will continue here with the missing translation. For the problem with default language, please open up a separate chat.

Since you don't have the Jobs tab, this typically means you have everything set to automaticlaly translate. In this case, please proceed with the rest of the steps that I mentioned above to update the post in the original language and then let me know the results.

I tried steps 2-5 but the new content does not show.

I do think the two problems are related so I'd appreciated if you looked into the comment on WPML thinking that there are two different default languages.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link

There seems to be a conflict with the original language of the page and the translation. For example, if I edit the German "About Us" page, it shows that the German page is a translation of the English page "About Us". However, the French page is a translation from German. So it seems the page was originally created in English and translated to German, and then the French was translated from a secondary language which is not recommended. The only other thing that could have happened was that the original language of the page was changed from German to English for some reason. Regardless, this seems to be part of the problem. So, to proceed, please tell me the following:

1. What is the original language of the About us page? Meaning, which language was this page FIRST created in?

If it was created in English, then the translation to French should be done from the English page and not from the German page.

If the page was originally created in German and translated to English, then we should change the original language of the page back to German so that English shows as a translation of German instead of the other way around.

Please let me know which way it should be and I can figure out how to proceed from there.

Thank you.

German, the original language of all pages is German.

I disconnected the translations and then linked them back together with German as the original language instead of English. I then resaved the translations and now it appears the correct content is showing on the frontend.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance and I will be happy to help.

Hi Lauren, thank you.

I can see that content.

However, I wanted to test it and when I change the text of the original page (German) and update the translations, then I'm back to square one:

The changes show in the backend and in the frontend on the original page.
The translated content shows in the backend, in WPML's translation editor, but not in the frontend.

The only change I did was to add a single word: "Haus". WPML picks up on that change in the backend but on the frontend, nothing.

I checked your site and found that the English translation was set to "Waiting for Translator". So I went to WPML -> Translations and edited the page from there. I then made an update in the original German page (I added a space after haus.). The English page then automatically updated and was waiting for review. Once I reviewed it and accepted the translation, I could then see the translation (house.) on the English page:

Please also note that your site's WP memory is below the required limit. Please try increasing the WP Memory Limit. Minimum requirements are 128Mb: https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

You can add this to wp-config.php to increase WP memory:

/** Memory Limit */
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
define( 'WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M' );

Add it above the line /* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
