Problem:
The client wants to set the default language on their page based on the site visitor's location and is concerned about how it might affect SEO. Additionally, the client is experiencing issues with buttons not maintaining the chosen language, and is inquiring about better translation options than the default translator.
Solution:
For setting the default language based on visitor location, we currently offer an automatic browser language redirect feature. This detects the visitor's browser language and redirects them to the corresponding language version of your site if available. However, this is based on browser language, not geolocation. To implement geolocation:
1. Consider using plugins from our compatible plugins list that support geotargeting.
2. If you need custom coding, you may contact one of our certified partners.
3. You can also suggest this feature for future versions of WPML at this link.
Regarding SEO, using geolocation should not affect your search engine rankings; it only determines which version of your website the visitor sees.
