Tell us what you are trying to do?
I translated all the pages using the Advanced Translation editor, but none of them are showing on the frontend. URL changes to the secondary language (in my case /en/) but the content displayed is the one of the original language. Header is translated but anything else. If I change to the WordPress editor and do the edits there all works OK.
Is there any documentation that you are following?
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
Please try the following steps:
1- Go to WPML-> Support-> Troubleshooting
2- Run the functions one by one (Kindly check this hidden link)
3- Edit the page in the default language
4- Make a minor edit and update it
5- Update the translation
6- Make sure that the translation is published
7- Clear the cache and check the front end
Hi Osama, thanks for your answer
I went trough your instructions but nothing changed. I also reseted permalinks, same result.
I created a test page (hidden link) and translated it using WordPress Editor method (changing the content in Elementor) and it works (hidden link), so there should be something related to ATE.
I created a staging site for you to test, where should I send the credentials?
Thanks for your update. I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
– preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible –
in order to be of better help and check if some configurations might need to be changed.
Your next answer will be private, which means only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate the Plugins and the Theme and change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
Thanks for the access details. Please check the following steps:
1- Install and activate the String Translation plugin
2- Go to WPML-> Support-> Troubleshooting
3- Run the functions one by one (Kindly check this: hidden link)
4- Edit the page in the default language
5- Add "V2" to the title and update the page
6- Delete the "V2" and update the page
7- Update the translation using ATE
8- Complete and save the translation
9- Clear the cache and check the front end
I applied these steps to the home page. Please check it and let me know if it works correctly. (hidden link)
OK, I can see that the homepage works perfect on the staging site. However, the other pages don't... should I go to each page and reproduce steps 4 to 9 on each one?
ups, that will be really time consuming, as all of the pages have the same problem... any ideas what caused this to happen on the first time? Will like to know so we can avoid this on future sites...
I'm not sure what caused it, but using Elementor and WPML without String Translation might be the cause. Or it could be corruption in DB that is fixed when updating the page along with its translation after the troubleshooting.
OK, will do that then... Have you applied any other changes to the staging site besides the ones pointed here? It may be faster if I just apply all the changes on this staging site and push it to production after that (in case no other modifications were done to it)
Sorry, trying to do this for one page but not working, I should be doing something wrong.
1. I open a page in the original language, changed name, save, re-changed name, save
2. Open translation in ATE, check that is 100% translated, click in "finalizado" (done or something in english)
3. Clear cache, also open in new browser / incognito mode...
Doesn't work for me. Maybe there is another way to update the translation?
The translation was stuck in the "in progress" state, so I canceled it and updated the translation. Please check the English page and let me know if it works correctly. (hidden link)
