I have now DISABLED today's date in the header but it still appears in all 3 languages, displaying 3 different dates.
Is the only solution to reconstruct the whole website from the ground up? This is a lot of work

Hi, Jeremy.

You wrote: "I have now DISABLED today's date in the header but it still appears in all 3 languages"

My role and obligation are to help you with the WPML and translation issues. Our support team and I will do everything we can to help from our side. However, if you disabled disabled today's date, and it still shows in the site's default language, you need to contact the theme's support about this issue. To be sure, you can also try the following. While today's date is disabled, temporarily deactivate WPML and its add-ons and check if it is still showing. If it does, as I said, this is not a WPML issue. If otherwise, please let me know.

**** Important! Please make a full site backup (files and DB) before you proceed with those steps****

I already requested access to check things on your site, but you did not provide it. Please let me know if you want to proceed with this option.

Another solution is for you to send us a package of your site, and we will investigate the issue on our servers. You can upload it to a service like Google Drive or Dropbox and share the link with me.

For this, I'll enable private messages for the next reply.

For both options, we need exact instructions from you on the following:

A. How and where can we see the issue on your website, including screenshots?

B. Where exactly are the date settings?

C. How did you translate the date?

You can also send us a video using the free online screencast service Loom—hidden link. This should help us determine whether you did anything wrong. Please add your voice-over to the video to explain the steps you take for us.

Regards,
Itamar.

Hello again,
Yesterday I published a new article, about eucalyptus.
It was not available in ANY language. I saw a message above the post saying that WPML Import and Export need a copy of WPML to work. (paid or free...?)
I have disabled the Import and Export function, then the article appeared in Portuguese only. I went to edit the translations and found them to be disassociated from the original article.
I have re-associated to the English / German translations but they haven't appeared yet on the homepage.

About eco123.info/dev (the experimental clone): Does the WPML interfere with the main website? I had an issue earlier where the website jumped to eco123.info/dev when I entered eco123.info in the address bar. To be on the cautious side, I have now deactivated WPML on the dev website

About the date: It eventually disappeared on its own. It was embedded in the Header settings of the Sahifa theme. Firstly it disappeared in Portuguese, then only later in the other languages...
Like I also said, I did not build the website myself, so there is a lot of personalization in the background which I'm unaware of. For example, I found a huge list of unused MENUs when I tried to change the theme to another one. This is maybe the reason why the menus were going haywire recently. WPML was probably trying to translate all of them simultaneously and eventually mixed them up on the previous hosting that had run out of disk space. When this happened, I would fix them in one language only to find that in another language they had gone completely wrong or were missing altogether. Now all the menus seem to be ok but the mobile version still has errors.

Maybe the only practical solution is to rebuild the whole website from the ground up.
Is it possible to import all the translated articles into a fresh WordPress installation? Because one the main problems I have with WPML is that it lost a lot of functionality from the acquisition of the license. Is there an easy way to import all the WPML translations and re-associate them to their translated articles without going through them one by one?
My idea now would be to make a new WordPress installation and try to re-create the website with the updated version of Sahifa (or maybe a new theme) and a fresh WPML install (without the previous junk from WPML (Dieter Malter)). I may delete eco123.info/dev and start fresh.
It is because certain features were lost that these errors are happening now and so far you have not suggested anything that has come even close to fixing the problem

Any other suggestions?
Kind regards,
Jeremy Walton

P.S. As I was writing this, I changed the English language to Draft and re-published it. Then like magic, the english AND the german layout appeared on the home page, indicating that it has something to do with the scheduling process

Hi,

I'll answer your questions now.

I saw a message above the post saying that WPML Import and Export need a copy of WPML to work. (paid or free...?)

WPML Import and Export is included with our Multilingual CMS subscription and above. You have our Multilingual Blog subscription.

About eco123.info/dev (the experimental clone): Does the WPML interfere with the main website?

I don't see how that is possible. But I also don't know how you set up the dev site so it is hard to tell at this moment.

Is it possible to import all the translated articles into a fresh WordPress installation?

Is there an easy way to import all the WPML translations and re-associate them to their translated articles without going through them one by one?

Yes, it is possible with the WPML Import and Export plugin. You can read about it here: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/

It is because certain features were lost that these errors are happening now and so far you have not suggested anything that has come even close to fixing the problem

Any other suggestions?

Maybe certain features were lost because, in the past, the site had the Multilingual CMS subscription.

Regards,
Itamar.
