Hello,
I am having an issue with importing translations into my site. I have exported the site using the Built-in WordPress Exporter. Our translators have done their magic and have sent us the files back. When I import the files back into our system with the Built-in WordPress Importer, there are a few issues:
1) The content section loses all its formatting. (Most important)
2) None of the translated pages are associated with its English version.
3) Some of elements have their translated text next to the English text. (We can hand edit this as a work around)

I have included screen shots to show you the issues.

I researched this problem on the forum, and it seems very similar to this one but the resolution makes no sense and it was marked as resolved. What the memory limit has to do with this problem I don’t know, but mine is set to 256M.

I look forward to your assistance.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML support!

Importing translations would not work this way, there are 2 supported methods:

or:

- https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-all-import-plugin-website-import-with-wpml/importing-multiple-languages-with-wp-all-import-and-wpml/#step-1-prepare-your-multilingual-content-for-importing

Only if done like this, it will ensure that translations and originals are connected. This may also resolve the formatting issue as they would share common meta data that holds information about this.

Regards,
Bruno Kos

I have tried doing this with 1 page. Unfortunately, it stripped all of the formatting out of the content of the original page and of the translated page.

Would you be willing to provide me with WordPress and FTP credentials so I could investigate the issue directly?

I marked your next reply as private so that you can safely add credentials.

Also send me the URL one of these pages that don't work properly.

Can you tell me which method of import have you used from my proposed 2 approaches from the previous reply?
