Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate content using WPML by creating content, sending it to translation, and translating manually with ATE. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link
Symptoms:
After translating an article, it eventually says it needs an update, even though nothing was changed in the original language. Editing the 'needs update' translation with ATE causes the automatic translation to use credits and ignore existing translations. Reverting this clears all boxes in ATE, requiring re-translation.
Questions:
Why do articles say they need an update when nothing has changed in the original language?
How can I prevent automatic translation from using credits and overwriting manual translations?

Please update your WPML plugin and add-ons to the latest version, 4.7.2, to benefit from the latest bug fixes and improvements. This may not necessarily resolve your problem; however, we need to work on the newest code available to troubleshoot the issue best.

If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.
