This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
If you're considering deactivating WPML but want to keep all the translated posts and their connections intact.
Solution:
When you deactivate WPML, all the content will remain in the database and will be assigned to the site's default language. If you reactivate WPML later, it will rebuild the language connections. If you decide not to use WPML anymore and wish to remove the translated content, we recommend following this guide: Deleting languages and plugin data by doing a WPML reset on your site.

If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, please open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. For further assistance, you can always contact us through the WPML support forum.

Hello,

If you deactivate WPML all the content will remain inside the database and will be assigned to the site's default language.

Enabling WPML again will build the language connections.

If you plan to no longer use WPML on the site, and you would like to remove the translated content, you will need to follow this guide:

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/deleting-languages-and-plugin-data-by-doing-a-wpml-reset-on-your-site/

Let me know if you have any further questions about this topic.

Best regards
Andreas
