Background of the issue:
We have a site on wpengine, its ecommerce. I'm getting error timeout 524 or bad gateway 502 when trying to access all products. I spoke to wpengine and they advised 'but there is something within the plugin that is taking over 100 seconds to load so this would be getting killed by cloudflares long process killer and would be killed by ours too. There wouldn't be a way for us to disable this as it can cause high server load and further errors'. - Its a custom theme.
Symptoms:
Error timeout 524 or bad gateway 502 when trying to access all products.
Questions:
How can I resolve the timeout 524 or bad gateway 502 errors?
Is there a way to optimize the plugin to prevent long load times?
Are there any specific settings in WPML that could be causing this issue?
Thanks for reaching us. I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Hi, thank you for your reply, Apologies I should have given more detail, so on the front end I can access all products no problem, however in the wordpress admin i.e. hidden link then I get a timeout issue.
The second language does load, but there isn't as many products (However there is only about 90 products on the default language.
Sometimes I can load the page, but most of the time it doesn't. (I can still edit individual products by clicking edit on the front end.
I've reviewed the link you provided, and it appears to be functioning properly after refreshing several times. However, I did experience a single crash, which I believe is due to the insufficient WordPress Memory Limit, as indicated here: hidden link
Could you please contact your hosting provider and ask them to increase this value for you? Then, retry and let me know how it goes.
