This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with automatic translations on their website using WPML and Elementor. They want to disable automatic translations and manually translate content, but are unable to delete the existing automatic translations, particularly for the footer.
Solution:
1. To disable automatic translations, navigate to WPML -> Settings and select the option "Translate what you choose".
2. Be aware that credits used for automatic translations are non-refundable. More details can be found here: WPML's refund policy for automatic translation credits.
3. To address the issue with the footer not translating correctly, ensure that it was created using a regular Elementor template and follow the steps for translating Elementor templates as outlined here: Translating Elementor Templates.

Recently, I purchased WPML and automatically began translating the website at hidden link. Unfortunately, this doesn't work well with WordPress and Elementor; much of the content isn't translated correctly. Now, I want to manually translate by copying and translating pages. This works well with pages. However, there are templates and pages that have been automatically translated and I can't delete them. Additionally, the translations aren't working as desired. I'd like to remove the automatic translations and references and do the translations myself using the standard editor. For example, it's not working for the footer. Could you please assist me? I've attached two screenshots; one with instructions on how to delete, but when I click on it, I end up on a blank screen.

Hi,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. Thanks for contacting us.

While waiting for one of my colleagues to help with this ticket, and based on what you've described, allow me to walk you through some initial debugging steps.

1. Deactivating Automatic Translation
- In "WPML > Settings" you can choose the translation mode "Translate what you choose"
- After that when you will translate a page for the first time, you will open our Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) and the page will be translated automatically. Don't worry, you can click on the "Undo translation" button at the top of your screen and then select "No, I don't want to use Automatic translation". This will deactivate automatic translation of your content.

2. Deleting previous translations
- Go to "Pages" and use the flag in the top admin bar to switch to your secondary language. Trash the page and empty the trash to delete it permanently.

3. For templates and footers
You can access them through "WPML > Translation Management". You will have a link to "modify" them in the WordPress editor (where you can access also the translation).

About the screenshots, I'm not sure that I understand the exact issue. Could you please clarify which menu is empty? And if you have access to all the WPML menus, as it could be a permission/capacities issue.

Thank you for the explanation. I want to completely disable the automatic translations on the website and possibly refund the credits. Currently, when I translate a template such as the footer, the translation doesn't come through. I only see the English translation, and the Dutch one doesn't work. This issue occurs with all templates on the website, including blogs, footer, header, etc. It works fine on pages, though.

Hi,

you can turn the automatic translation off at "WPML -> Settings" fully off, as described by my colleague above, by switching the option to "Translate what you choose".

It's important to note that credits, once spent, are non-refundable. You can find more details about this policy here: https://wpml.org/de/faq/can-i-get-a-refund-for-automatic-translation-credits/#if-i-cancel-or-delete-automatically-translated-content-can-i-get-the-used-credits-back.

But I would like to check why the translation of your Footer was not working. Did you create it using a regular Elementor template? Did you translate it as described here using WPML -> Translation Management (https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/#translating-elementor-templates)?

Best Regards
Marcel
