This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was experiencing an issue where words were merging together in translated pages using WPML with Elementor Text Editor. The problem persisted even after manual corrections and reappeared with changes in the base language.
Solution:
We initially suggested the client to make a small change to the default language page and resend it for translation to see if the issue persists. After reproducing the issue on a test site, it was escalated to our second-tier support. The problem was identified to be related to nested tags and specific translation engines like DEEPL. We recommended avoiding nested tags or manually adjusting the text in the WPML editor until a permanent fix was released. Eventually, the issue was resolved on our side, and we confirmed that automatic translation no longer removes white spaces between words. The client was advised to update the content in the default language and resend it for translation.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.

Hello,

we have confirmed the issue and it was escalated to our devs for a fix, but it may take a while. It seems to be related to nested tags and DEEPL, for example a link in a strong tag or a strong tag inside a link.

In the meantime, you can not use nested tags, or manually adjust the text in WPML editor or manually edit the 2nd language page and adjust the spaces, until the fix is released.

Hope this workaround is acceptable to you.

Let us know.

Regards,
Drazen

Hello,

as I said the permanent fix will take some time, I can not share any ETA, but in the meantime, I suggest using a workaround from my last reply.

I am sorry for the inconvenience, but I do not have anything else new to share and once the fix is out I will update you here.

Regards,
Drazen

Hi Dražen,

Just to clarify, the issue isn’t limited to nested tags. Even simple <-strong-> tags (e.g., hidden link – first paragraph) are affected.

The manual workaround is challenging to manage, especially since updates to the base language overwrite adjustments. Could your team prioritize this fix or suggest an interim solution?

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Muneer

Hello Muneer,

we are doing our best, but it is also related to what we receive from the translation engine, so it will take some time. The best thing other than that I can suggest is to use another translation engine, like Google, it should work fine.

Hope this helps.

Drazen

Hello,

thanks for your patience.

Good news, this issue has now been fixed on our side. We have confirmed that the automatic translation no longer removes white spaces between words, and re-sending the page for translation should now work as expected.

Please try updating the content in the default language and re-send it for translation. Let us know if you still notice anything unexpected.

Regards,
Dražen
