This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with bulk translations using WPML, resulting in a 504 error even when translating a single post. Credits are being utilized despite these errors, and URLs are showing a '?' at the end of the slug after using WPML.
Solution:
We recommend increasing the
max_execution_time
to 300. This adjustment was tested by sending 20 jobs at once and it worked as expected. It's also advised to consult with your hosting provider to explore why the 'Bad Gateway' error occurs, particularly to check if large queries are being restricted by the server. Starting with smaller batches of up to five may also help mitigate the issue.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Thank you for sharing the credentials 🙂 Could you edit your previous private message and add the 'Server protection details'? I can't access the staging yet. |

Thank you for your message. I followed these steps on the test site: Could you check if the issue disappeared in the test site? |

Hi Carlos, Sounds Good, but I think I won't be able to BULK translate as I have very less amount of credit left on stage, although am thankful you transferred credits from sage to production as I asked to. What can be done here now ? |

Hi, I added extra (free) credits to run the tests, so you still have the same translation credits. None of your credits were used to run the tests 🙂 Now, you can follow the same steps I described in my previous message and apply them to the production site, then double-check if the issue disappeared. |

Hi Carlos, Thanks for quick response, although I could not see extra credits here in production but yea credits from stage are successfully added. Also, I tried deleting all the deactivated plugins from production except the ones which are custom built but it still throws 500 BAD GATEWAY. Although I had downloaded the plugin folders with file inside but am worried about how to use them again in future. Lets say I want to use those three custom plugins again, will it simply work zipping them and install through WP plugin installer ? Moreover, I wanna know about this translation queue attached in SS below, what are these and how come they are not getting completely translated ? Thanks : ) |

Hi there, 1.- Yes, you can zip the plugin folders and manually add them later. If these are custom plugins it is recommended to ask the authors first. 2.- The screenshot shared shows the translation jobs assigned to your user. If you want to automatically translate this content you can Resign to the translations and then follow the usual steps in WPML -> Translation Management to automatically translate these contents. 3.- No, I haven't accessed your production site in a while and I haven't make any changes on it. |

Hey Carlos, I am completely out of credits and hence, I think I won't be able to test things on production neither staging, by any means can you add some free credits to stage so that i can check if stage is working fine and throwing no error (BAD GATEWAY REQUEST). Thanks |

Hey Carlos, Thanks for adding 10k credit to conduct the test, sadly it FAILED again : ( Please check here -> hidden link Kindly take a look into it. I also think just getting rid of all the de-activated plugins didn't helped anyway. Thanks |

Could you tell me if any information or configuration is different in these MMI Family posts? Perhaps some configuration or Gutenberg block or any other element is used only in the MMI Family posts and is causing this problem. |
