I’m experiencing an issue with WPML + Elementor Pro where translated pages keep an old Elementor layout, even after updating the original page and re-running automatic translations.
Setup
• WordPress
• Elementor Pro
• WPML (latest version)
• Automatic Translation enabled
• Site uses multiple languages (EN → NL / DE / FR / ES / IT)
Steps to reproduce
1. I update the English (original) page:
• Change Elementor layout (sections, containers, structure)
• Update text content
2. I go to WPML → Translation Management
3. I select the page and re-run Automatic Translation for other languages
4. Translation completes successfully without errors
Expected result
The translated pages should:
• Reflect the updated Elementor layout
• Use the latest structure from the original language
• Only translate textual content
Actual result
• The translated pages still show the old Elementor layout
• Only text content is sometimes updated
• Structural Elementor changes (containers, order, new sections) are NOT reflected
• This happens even after:
• Updating the translated page manually
• Deleting and re-creating the translation
• Clearing WPML cache
• Regenerating Elementor files & data
Additional notes
• Translated pages are still linked correctly in WPML
• Page Builder content is set to “Copy from original” in WPML settings
• The issue is consistent across multiple pages and languages
• This makes it impossible to safely update layouts on multilingual Elementor pages
Question
How can I force WPML to:
• Fully sync the Elementor layout from the original language?
• Ensure automatic translations also reflect structural page builder changes?
• Prevent this issue going forward for Elementor-based pages?
I’m happy to provide:
• Temporary admin access
• A staging URL
• Screenshots or a screencast if needed
