Tell us what you are trying to do?
I try to import a translation for a product. the default language is german. when I import the french translation the product gets completely overwritten with the french version.
How can I import a translation without using the SKU number as a unique identifier?

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

Kindly be informed that if you're using the "WP ALL Import" plugin to import the Product translation, you must need to select a Unique Identifier to complete the Import Process. If you don't want to select the SKU, you can select ID or any other identifier that won't change. For more details about the Unique identifier, please check the guide below.

But, If you're using the standard WooCommerce Product Exporter/Importer tool, there's no need to specify a unique identifier during the import process. But, since you're using the "WPML Export and Import" plugin, it's essential to define certain metadata (such as Language code, Source Language code, Translation group) before initiating the import to ensure that the imported products align with their respective translations.

After completing the import, navigate to "WPML > WPML → Export and Import" and start the import process. The plugin will check all the metadata you provided earlier and accurately link the imported translations with the original products.

For a more detailed understanding of this procedure, I recommend reviewing the following guide: https://wpml.org/documentation/related-projects/wpml-export-and-import/#example-exporting-with-woocommerce-exporter

I hope you can understand. Feel free to let me know if you need further assistance or clarification in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Thanx for your reply: What I dont understand is when you are using the standard WooCommerce Product Exporter / Importer the only problem I have is, that when I am importing the secondary language due to the same SKU Number its overwritting the existing default language (german) and changes the product to secondary translated language (french).

Therefore I m not able to import a product with the same SKU or ID coz I only have the option:
1. Update existing products
2. Or not importing the existing product, meaning no import for the secondary language translation is possible.

Can you help me here? How do I import a language translation with same SKU?

Hello There,
Thank you for the update.

The SKU for both the default and translated products can be the same, and this will not cause any problems during the import process on another site. Following your report, I conducted a test by keeping the SKU the same for the default and translated products and can confirm that the products are imported without any issues.

During the CSV import process, there is an option labeled 'Update Existing Product' (screenshot: hidden link). Did you try importing without selecting this option? If not, please import again without selecting that option.

After the import is complete, both default and translated products should appear together in the Product section. To organize and link the translated product to the default one, you should initiate the Importer through "WPML > Export and Import".

However, if the issue you're experiencing is different from what I understand, could you please provide more details? Steps to replicate the issue or a video demonstration would be incredibly helpful. With this additional information, I'll be able to take a closer look and offer further assistance.

Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
