This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
Single sentence with line is split in Advanced translation editor as separate segments
Solution:
An HTML line break placed between two phrases is considered as two separate lines based on the language grammar and the same is applied by ATE. it is not an issue but an expected behavior
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
I am trying to translate a site, however the Gutenberg's content, is split by WPML if it appears in different lines. In this example, the sentence "IQ Net Certified Management System" appears in 2 lines on the front-end:
1) IQ Net Certified
2) Management System
And WPML only allows translating each line separately. Therefore, I cannot translate the sentence correctly. The translation should be:
1) Sistema de gestión
2) Certificado IQ Net
How can I merge/undo the sentence splitting if it appears on different lines?
It seems like you have added "IQ Net Certified Management System" in two separate lines with a line break in between them as
IQ Net Certified <br/>Management System
which is considered as two separate lines based on the language grammar and the same is applied by ATE.
Instead of using Line breaks you can consider or formatting option to display the text in two separate lines without line breaks, Eg: you can use a span tag to wrap around the text, and using CSS apply linebreak which will not affect the language grammar.
This I know, however, you should know the <br/> is generated automatically by Gutenberg. Depending on the width of the screen.
What I'm asking, is to be able to translate the entire sentence as it's in its original language, not how it's rendered by the site. 2 entirely different things.
I am afraid, the line break is not added automatically by the block element as it will cause other issues. Also, I noticed the block element used on the site is from an addon Stackable Ultimate Gutenberg Blocks. I have quickly tested the element on a test with a longer text it does not automatically split the text they are rendered on the translation editor as a single segment without any issues.
