[Resolved] Wpml strings 'Translation Complete' filter problem
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was experiencing an issue where untranslated strings were appearing when filtering for completed translations from English to French on their multilingual website. Solution: We initially attempted to reproduce the issue on a test site but could not replicate the problem, suggesting it might be specific to the client's site setup. We requested access to a staging version of the client's site for a safer and more thorough investigation. Upon further examination, we discovered that the strings were indeed translated, but the display icon was incorrect. To resolve this, we navigated to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > Cleanup and optimize string table. This action corrected the icon display issue, and the filtering now accurately reflects the translation status.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
Our website is currently translated from English to French. We translated some strings ourselves one by one. We also translated our site from English to German using WPML. We wanted to filter out strings that had already been translated from English to French to only translate those strings into German.
Symptoms:
When we filtered the Completed Translations from English to French, we found some strings that hadn't been translated yet. The filtering is incorrect.
Questions:
Can you help me resolve the issue with the incorrect filtering of completed translations?
Why are untranslated strings appearing when filtering for completed translations from English to French?
The answer you've given is just a glossary. What do I care about the problem with your test site?
So, do you solve problems by saying, "Oh, we don't have a problem, you shouldn't have one either"?
You haven't solved any of the problems I've opened with different tickets so far, and it doesn't look like you'll solve this one either.
I'm currently experiencing this issue on my site, and your plugin is up-to-date, but I still have this problem. Will you take any steps to resolve this? You already reply every 24-48 hours, so at least give me a proper answer and be solution-oriented so I don't have to wait.
I completely understand your frustration, and I want to assure you that my goal is to resolve this issue as efficiently as possible.
My initial attempt was to reproduce the issue in a clean environment to determine if it's a bug within WPML. Since I wasn't able to reproduce it, I asked for more details in case I missed a specific step. If it turned out to be a WPML bug, we would escalate it immediately and provide a fix.
However, it's also possible that the issue is caused by a specific combination of plugins, settings, or your environment. In such cases, we need to investigate further — ideally on a staging copy of your site, which is safer for testing.
To move forward, please share access details to your (staging) website so I can log in and take a closer look.
