Problem:
If you're experiencing an issue with your database growing too large due to the icl_translate (4.3 GB) and icl_translation_status (3.2 GB) tables, it might be due to how WPML retains data.
Solution:

After updating, you can find a new option to clear old translation data under WPML > Support > Troubleshooting.
