Solution: We investigated and found that: 1. Editing a post/page with Elementor did not present any issues. 2. Assigning a test post to a translator from the Translation Basket was not completed due to a fatal error related to the server/hosting configuration.
The PHP extension "Multibyte String Extension" was not installed and enabled, which caused the issue. We advised the client to contact their hosting support to enable this PHP extension and then check the issue again. The status of this extension can be checked in WPML > Support > PHP section "Multibyte String extension".
