Background of the issue:
I am trying to add US English as a custom language on WordPress by going to WPML > Languages > Edit Languages > Add Language.

Symptoms:
Once I've added all the details in the yellow bar, WPML says 'File extension not allowed'.

Questions:
How to solve the 'File extension not allowed' error when adding a custom language in WPML?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

1) Please make sure that you use the correct file extension for the custom flag. Kindly check these guides:

1- https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/custom-language-flags/

2- https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/language-setup/language-switcher-options/custom-language-flags/using-custom-flags-for-shared-languages/

2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.

Best regards,
Osama
