[Escalated to 2nd Tier] author role don't have media translation

I see author role don't have media translation. How to grant author to have media translation?

Hi,

I checked this with our 2nd tier and they also agree that such capability is not possible to set.

The thing is that if we allow authors to modify images from media translation, we are basically allowing them to modify every translation there is (so they will be able to translate images on every page) which is against how translation management should work, where you can assign translations individually for pages and not allowing authors or editors to modify other translations, those that were not assigned to them through translation management interface.

If you also enable "edit_others_posts", does it work then?

However this may open up some post types also you don't want to allow.

if I enable "edit_others_posts", it will turn author to editor, so "media translation" will show up.

But I don't want the author can edit other posts.

Hi,

We escalated this as a feature request, but have no workarounds to offer. The idea would be to make "Media Translation" menu available to users set as "translators" however this may clash with some WordPress default roles so we are unsure how and if this will be handled.

I will keep this thread updated.
