Hello WPML Support,

I’m experiencing a critical issue with WPML after making a very small update (just a few words) to existing pages.

The issue occurs on the following pages:
hidden link
hidden link

Immediately after the update, several paragraphs disappeared from the translated version. This is not a content change on my side – the translated content already existed in the system and was previously complete.

In addition, WPML now requires automatic translation credits for content that has already been translated previously. This appears to be incorrect, since no new content was added that should require new credits. I also want to clarify that I do not use bulk automatic translation.

When I try to fix this manually in the Advanced Translation Editor, I encounter blocking errors:
* I am unable to insert markers due to an error.
* Even in paragraphs where I do not use markers, the system shows an error stating that a required marker is missing.
* Because of this, I cannot save the translation at all.

This leaves the pages in a broken state, with missing translated content and no way to restore or edit them.

Please see the attached screenshots that demonstrate:
* Missing paragraphs in the translated version
* Incorrect credit requirement for existing translations
* Errors related to markers preventing saving

Thank you,
Moti Pinhassi

Hello,

Thank you for contacting WPML support. I’ll be happy to assist you with this issue.

The problem with the markers should now be resolved. Could you please check and confirm on your end?

You may also try making a small change in the original language and then update the translations to verify.

Please let me know if this helps.

Thank you.

Hello Shekhar,
The markers issue seem to be resolved, at least for pan.pics/dormition .
However, the missing paragraphs at pan.pics/jaffagate are still missing. I have tried to trash the job and recreate but no avail.
Thanks
Moti

Hello there,

I made a small change on the original language and I couldn't see the market issue. Please check and confirm.

Regarding the translations loss, I see there has been changes to content two days ago here: hidden link

Lets take one example, previously you translated

Nine measures of beauty were given to Jerusalem, and one and a half of them are found here, at Jaffa Gate and Mamilla Square. This place is a meeting point between old and new, between the walls of the Old City and the modern way of life in the city. In the morning hours, the square is illuminated by clear sunlight, lighting up the Jerusalem limestone of the walls in golden hues. In the evening hours, the yellowish lights cast dramatic shadows, and the landscape takes on an almost mysterious atmosphere.

The original text is modified as a reason the translation memory is not applied, I hope this make sense, if you feel there are other texts that was translated but showing untranslated, can you provide an example so I can check?

Look forward to your reply.

Thanks

Hi, the marker problem REMAINS. See image.
Also, the missing paragraphs DOES NOT make sense at all. If I change a word I do not expect the whole paragraph to disappear and definitely not other paragraphs.

Hello,

Are these translations being copied from another source, or are they generated automatically? I’ve already corrected this page for you.

Do you have any other pages where the same issue occurs?

Regarding translation memory, yes—any change to a word requires retranslation, as it is treated as a new paragraph.

Thanks.

I copy the text from the existing translated page.
I do not use automatic translation anymore since it is not reliable, overcharged me numerous times, see my ticket history :-/

What and how did you fix, and can I do it myself?

Regarding translation memory, if I change one word I expect to get charged credits for one word, not for the whole paragraph. Also notice that several more paragraphs were deleted from the translation.

Hello,

It looks like when you’re copying the content, multiple markers are being included. Try pasting the content into the browser’s address bar first, then copy it again—this should help clean it up.

Regarding translation memory, it doesn’t work on a per-word basis but per segment. When you translate content, each segment is saved in the translation memory. If the same segment is used again, the stored translation is applied. Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks.

Yes, the missing markers are probably because of copied stuff, once it went through notepad it was fixed.

However when I do want to enter a marker, it still encounters the same error. see image.
