Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate the tagDiv theme post settings using the WPML translation editor on my site, hidden link. I want the translations to appear correctly on the post front page.

Symptoms:
When translating the tagDiv theme post settings using WPML, the translation does not take effect and reverts to the original language (Arabic). I have to switch the post page to English and manually translate the post settings for the translation to appear correctly. The image Alt text also does not show the translated text.

Questions:
Why does the WPML translation editor not apply translations to the tagDiv theme post settings?
How can I ensure that the translated text appears correctly on the post front page?
Why is the image Alt text not showing the translated text?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Can you please explain little more about the "theme post settings"? I mean are these kind of global settings coming from theme options or are per post settings which are available when creating/editing an individual post?

In either case, usually these are stored in custom fields and sometimes are also registered as strings. I'll recommend checking the following guides to see if these help in your case:

- Translating Custom Fields: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-custom-fields/
- Finding and translating theme options in Admin Strings: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/#register-admin-and-setting-strings-for-translation
- If this is related to Cloud Templates: hidden link

Please let me know and I'll try my best to help you further on the matter.

Regards.

Thanks Waqas for your reply,

It is not a global theme option, but it comes as custom fields in a post to fill in with details individually for each post.

All settings regarding showing and translating those custom fields are done and they are showing when translating the post with WPML translator and I am translating them to English, but when reading the post it shows the original language only not the translated one, at the same time there is no issue with the translated field when translating them in the post editor page.

So my issue is: why the translated texts of those custom fields are not showing while translating them in WPML editor, but there is no issue with translating them in the post editor page itself.

In other words, everything translated in the WPML editor is showing as the translated language except those custom fields and image captions.

Please look at the screenshots attached, you can see the fields are translated to English in the WPML Editor, but when opening the post page in the English language after the translation it shows not translated.

Hope I could explain the issue clearly.

Thanks,
Mahmood
