Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a custom post type called 'Location' from the Book Your Travel theme from English to Japanese using the WPML Advanced Translation Editor. I translated the '13–20 Days Treks' Location post, and the translation process shows 100% complete. I clicked the 'Save & Close' button.
Symptoms:
The Japanese version of the post does not appear in the post list—neither under 'Draft,' 'Trash,' nor in any filtered view. I also tested creating a Japanese translation manually via the '+' icon, but the Japanese post never appears in the admin post list or on the front-end.
Questions:
Why does the Japanese version of the translated post not appear in the post list?
What additional steps can I take to ensure the translated post appears correctly?
Please go to WPML -> Settings and in the post type section, make sure Locations is set as transltable. If it is, then please be sure to make a full backup of your site and database.
Then, go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting.
Look for 'Clean up' and click the following:
- Synchronize posts taxonomies
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Set language information
- Synchronize local job IDs
- Fix Terms count
- Fix post assignment for translations
After these steps, do you see the Japanease page on the backend?
I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
Our Debugging Procedures
I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.
- Please make a backup of site files and database before providing us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this: hidden link
