[Resolved] Confusion with Elementor Template translation
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client was unable to link new templates to the original English templates in Elementor after deleting previous translations. They also encountered issues when following the guide to link a new template.
Solution: 1. We recommend activating the WPML String Translation plugin, as it is essential when working with Elementor templates. 2. Update the Permalinks by navigating to WordPress Settings -> Permalinks and clicking the update button without making any changes. This step is not directly related to the problem but helps refresh WordPress settings. 3. Edit the template in both English and Hebrew separately, ensuring that changes apply correctly to each language. Additionally, make sure that all the plugins and theme are using latest versions.
At first I made a copy of all the templates in the translation manager, after that I realized that this is not the right way to translate templates so I deleted all my templates from the Hebrew language.
Now I'm trying to create new templates and link them to the English template but I still see the translation continue sign and I don't have the option to link the new template I'm creating.
In addition, I did an experiment and created a new template and linked it as indicated in your guide, but that doesn't work for me either.
I would really appreciate it if you could arrange for me how I fix the problem and translate the templates in the most correct way
I will add the first reply before this ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues.
Please kindly get back to us with the login information of the staging/copy version of the website so we can check the Elementor template translation issue.
Also give us the link to the template you have the issue with to check.
I was able to observe the problem and then I was also able to see it working, just by activating WPML String Translation plugin. This plugin was not active in your site, so I just followed these steps:
- Activated WPML String Translation (this is recommended when you're working with Elementor templates).
- Simply updated Permalinks by clicking update button without making any change in WordPress Settings -> Permalinks. This shouldn't be relevant but it refreshes WP settings.
Then I edited the template in both English and Hebrew separately and changes were applied correctly, to only the respective languages - see my screen-recording at hidden link.
Besides this, I tried to update parent theme (Hello Elementor) and Elementor plugin. I tested with the minimal setup in your staging site, because the issue you reported was evident with even a minimal one.
So I believe, if you simply follow the above mentioned, the problem should be resolved.
