Background of the issue:
Hi, we are experiencing an issue with a new website we are developing. We installed the Filter Everything Pro plugin to filter our news items. It stopped working when we installed WPML. Specifically, the search function no longer works, but filtering by category still functions.
I also asked the developer of the Filter Everyhting Pro plug'in and got the response: "The issue is caused by a conflict with either a plugin, custom code, or server settings. On your site, any added GET parameter in the URL breaks the filtering functionality, while it works fine on the demo site. To troubleshoot, disable all plugins, custom code, and switch to a default WordPress theme. If filtering then works, reactivate plugins one by one to find the cause. If the issue persists, it may be related to server configuration or .htaccess rules."
Symptoms:
The search function of the Filter Everything Pro plugin stopped working after installing WPML, while filtering by category still works.
Questions:
This is how we identified the issue. Is there a workaround?
To be able to investigate the issue further, I need to create a copy of your website, so I can test solutions, check for conflicts without harming your live website. We usually do that by creating local copies, but the ones I created from your website were broken. In this case, I'd like to ask you to please create a staging version of the website - an exact copy of the production website.
You can leave the same user there, so you don't need to share credentials again. Please send the staging website link here, so I can access it. I know this takes some effort, so I appreciate your cooperation on this matter.
You can proceed with the login we provided. This account is no longer used by our customer.
We also created a backup with Duplicator Pro, so we can always restore that version on the development environment if needed.
Hi, the given WordPress access details were wrong and were changed during the conversation, but I noticed that the old ones are above. Is there a safe way to pass them?
Sure. The required fields can be found below the comments section. The information you enter is private, i.e. only you and I can see it and have access to it.
IMPORTANT
Please make a backup copy of the site files and database before giving us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, this means your post and site login details are being made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details if you do not see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
Hi, I was wondering if you're still testing and if so, can you verify the problem? Then I can contact the developer of the plug-in. Kind regards, WEBRAND
I've been waiting for your feedback, along with the developer's one. This issue very likely can only be solved on their side, as the feature from WPML (using directory for default language) works as expected by itself.
It's likely that the plugin isn't prepared for this scenario. And the solution is likely on their hands. Can you please reach out to them and let me know?
You can send them the Sandbox website, so they can check it.
Please note: Although Filter Everything declares compatibility with WPML, we have not been able to make formal contact with the author despite our best efforts. We have received some related issues in our support forum, but in order to resolve them, we need to get cooperation from the author.
