[Resolved] Products in second language don't have default variation selected
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing an issue where products in a second language do not have a default variation selected, despite updating WPML WooCommerce Multilingual to version 5.5.2.3.
Solution: We recommend the following steps to resolve the issue: 1. Increase the WordPress memory limit to at least 256MB by adding
define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '256M');
in the 'wp-config.php' file. 2. Resave the original product in the default language by making a minor edit and updating it. 3. Check and update the product translation if necessary. 4. Use the troubleshooting tools in WooCommerce Multilingual & Multicurrency to synchronize product variations and fix language connections. 5. Clear all caches on the site, including any caching plugins, server-side caches, and browser cache. 6. If the issue persists, manually check that all attributes and global variations are fully translated and linked. Also, ensure each variation in the translated product has its price and attributes set correctly. 7. Avoid repeating basic steps already completed and clear all caches again after adjustments. 8. If problems continue, consider potential theme or plugin overrides or JavaScript issues that might interfere with variation display on translated products.
If these steps do not resolve the issue or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.

Symptoms:
Products in the second language don't have a default variation selected. Instead of seeing a default variation, none is selected on translated products.
Questions:
Why are default variations not selected for products in the second language?
How can I ensure that default variations are selected for translated products?
I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I understand. Could you please let me know which option you selected on the primary language product to set the default variation?

Thanks for your reply. I've checked, and it looks like you're using some 3rd party plugins to set up the swatches and it looks complex. Could you please install the required plugins here on our sandbox site hidden link and try to replicate the issue over there?
You can install the required plugins and theme to replicate the issue.
You sandbox website is so slow. I can't reinstall all my website on this server...
But it you want on my staging you can disable third party plugin, save again products and check if default variation is well assigned into all translated languages
Thanks for your reply. I've tested it on our sandbox site here hidden link and I'm able to select the default attribute without issues. This is the login to our sandbox site hidden link
Looks like the issue is isolated to your Website for some reason. Could you please create an administrative account for me?
Also, I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.
To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:
1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link
3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.
Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.
Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.
Thanks for your patience. My apologies for overlooking this. I've some feedback from our 2nd Tier Support, and they mentioned that the issue could be related to corrupted WCML files. Replacing the WCML plugin files could fix it. Could you please check why your staging site is inaccessible now? hidden link
