Hi, many thanks for your response and for making this adjustment. When I am trying to resubmit an already translated post to PTC via translation dashbord, for some reason the option to override an existing translation is not offered and the number of words to be translated is 0. Any idea? Thanks
I would like to look at this directly on your site. For this I would need temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to your site, preferably to a test/staging site where the problem has been replicated if possible.
The required fields can be found below the comments section. The information you enter is private, i.e. only you and I can see it and have access to it.
I may need to replicate your website locally. To do this, I need to temporarily install a plugin called "Duplicator" or "All in One WP Migration" on your website. This will allow me to create a copy of your website and content. Once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local website. Let me know if this works for you.
IMPORTANT
Please make a backup copy of the site files and database before giving us access.
- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields, this means your post and site login details are being made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details if you do not see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:
Thank you, I have the proper access now. I was able to translate with no issues on the website. It took a few seconds, for the word count to show so I could proceed. Check the image.
Can you please try again on the live website? If you still can't proceed, please send me access to it. The private field is enabled.
thank you for your message. Have you done your test with this exact post?

I have tried again on the Dev instance and it is not translating via translation dashboard, the word count stays on 0. I agree that it is working well for some posts but not for others.
I wasn't really able to translate the post you shared as well. Since we made the PTC setting change on the live website, I'd like to access it, if possible.
I won't make any change to the website, I'll solely check if the translation process work for the post you shared above. Please ensure to have a backup and send me access. I'll refund any spent credits during my testing. With that information, I can take a second opinion from 2nd tier.
I checked the page /projekte/international-rescue-committee-ein-neues-narrativ-anders-ueber-klima-und-flucht-reden/ on the production website, and noted that the titles are not capitalized.
Did the translation work, even without the word count?
No, as described above, the current translations on production are done with Deepl instead of PTC due to capitalization issue.
I have run some tests on the Dev instance. I deleted the translation of the post in question, removed it from the paste bin and VOILA: I could run the automatic translation again. It seems that the dashboard only allows automatic translations of strings which have not been translated automatically before, even if another translation engine was used. As this behavoir is not perefct in my opinion, I guess we have found a workaround.
The capitalization issue now has vanished, I will run another test on production.
You may use the dev instance to reproduce what I am describing but I would deactivate your access to production now due to our internal guidelines.

Hi,
Based on your last message, can you confirm that the behavior you described — where a post cannot be resent to PTC if it has been previously translated (even with another engine like DeepL) unless the existing translation and job are deleted — is something you consider not to be the proper workflow?
If so, we can reproduce this scenario in a clean sandbox (which I will create) to verify whether the Translation Dashboard should allow resubmitting such posts without manually removing previous translations.
Yes, exactly. We believe it should be possible to resubmit content for new translation e.g. because the translation engine was swapped (eg. Deepl to PTC) or the translation engine has been improved or adjusted. There used to be some kind of dialog "replace existing translations" but it seems to only appear if automatic translations have been manually modified. I believe it should be possible to overwrite former automatic translations just as you described. Thank you
