This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Our wait time is higher than usual, please make sure you are meeting the minimum requirement - https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements before you report issues, and if you can take a look at current Known Issues - https://wpml.org/known-issues/. Thank you.
Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a custom field in a WordPress post using WPML. The original post is at hidden link and its translation is at hidden link. The first widget is a simple Heading Elementor text field configured to read the custom field named 'Nazwa Kursu'.
Symptoms:
I am unable to use a different custom field on a translation. In the preview, the title reads correctly as 'carpentry from scratch', but after publishing, the title remains in Polish. When I edit the English (translated) post manually, the custom field is in English.
Questions:
How can I make the title read the correct custom field in the translated language?
What is the step-by-step procedure to ensure the custom field is translated correctly?
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
1) Please let me know how this custom field is created and what the translation preference is for it.
2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.
the pages are set to use the normal wordpress editor for translation (not classic WPML editor and not advanced editor).
The custom fields have been added in the normal, native wordpress editor.
Thanks for your update. I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please back up your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
It's great to hear that the issue is fixed. 🙂 Please don't hesitate to open a new ticket if you face any other issues. We are always happy to help you.
