This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
You are trying to select an existing user and set him/her as a translator in your backend, but the user cannot be found and set. Additionally, the user cannot be assigned to take on translation tasks.
Solution:
1. Ensure that you have navigated to WPML-> Translation Management-> Translators tab in your WPML settings.
2. Confirm that the WPML Translation Editor is selected before you start translating pages.
3. If the issue persists, consider resetting user capabilities. You can do this using the User Role Editor plugin. Follow these steps provided by the plugin. Remember to back up your database before proceeding with these steps.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
