[Resolved] Add a Translator on Translation Management
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to select an existing user and set him/her as a translator in your backend, but the user cannot be found and set. Additionally, the user cannot be assigned to take on translation tasks. Solution: 1. Ensure that you have navigated to WPML-> Translation Management-> Translators tab in your WPML settings. 2. Confirm that the WPML Translation Editor is selected before you start translating pages. 3. If the issue persists, consider resetting user capabilities. You can do this using the User Role Editor plugin. Follow these steps provided by the plugin. Remember to back up your database before proceeding with these steps.
If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am trying to select an existing user and set him/her as a translator on our backend, but the user cannot be found and set. The issue can be seen at this link: hidden link.
Symptoms:
The user cannot be found and set as a translator, and now the user cannot be assigned to take the translation task.
Questions:
Why can't I find and set an existing user as a translator?
How can I assign a user to take the translation task?
I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please back up your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
As shown in the picture, there is no option to select WPML Translation Editor in my section page.
Also, I cannot add the old administrator of the website as a website translator. My current translators can only be searched by the recently added administrator users. The administrator account and password I gave you before are still there. You can go and check. For example, I cannot search for my two administrator users, one is aby and the other is jamie in the translator management interface.
Please reset user capabilities and check those two accounts. You can reset it using the "User Role Editor" plugin. Here are the steps provided by the plugin.
❌ Please back up your database before the above steps ❌
