[Resolved] completed page translation is not saving
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are trying to translate a page from English to Chinese using the advanced editor, but the completed page translation is not saving. When attempting to view the Pages in Chinese, no posts appear, and an error message stating 'You attempted to edit an item that does not exist. Perhaps it was deleted?' is displayed. However, the translated content still shows as 100% complete when you try to translate again. Solution: If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend you follow these troubleshooting steps in WPML → Support → Troubleshooting: - Clear the cache in WPML - Remove ghost entries from the translation tables - Fix the collation for the element types - Fix the collation for WPML tables - Assign translation status to duplicated content - Set the language information - Correct post type assignments for translations These steps should help ensure that the translated page remains visible and does not disappear.
Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate a page from English to Chinese using the advanced editor. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link
Symptoms:
The completed page translation is not saving. When I try to navigate to the Pages in Chinese, there are no posts. If I try to change that page to Chinese in the menu at the top of the WP dashboard, I get the message 'You attempted to edit an item that does not exist. Perhaps it was deleted?' However, if I click the plus sign to translate again, all the translated content is there and shows as 100% complete.
Questions:
Why is the completed page translation not saving?
Why do I receive an error message when trying to view the page in Chinese?
If you do not see the updates, you might need to click the Check for updates button in the Plugins → Add New Plugin → Commercial tab.
You can check the latest released versions under "My Account -> Downloads" on this site. Instructions to update can be found here: http://wpml.org/faq/install-wpml/

Thanks - I was able to update the plugins now. But the same problem persists. 100% complete Chi translations do not save. Initially, the "pencil" icon is shown but when I navigate to the Chi Pages, there are no pages there. When I navigate back to Eng Pages, the pencil is again replaced by the "+". Click the + translation already shows 100% complete. And repeat. All our plugins / themes are compatible with WPML and are very standard widely used ones so please give advise beyond turn off your plugins.
No they are not in Trash as they never successfully saved. Could I get some more hands on support please as it's taking days now for very basic replies.
FYI post category translations are saving OK. Pages are not.
I need to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site—preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible—in order to be of better help. When you log in to leave your next reply, you will find the needed fields below the comment area. The information you will enter is private, meaning only you and I can see and access it.
I have completed the following troubleshooting steps, and it seems the issue has been resolved:
In WPML → Support → Troubleshooting:
- Cleared the cache in WPML
- Removed ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fixed the collation for the element types
- Fixed the collation for WPML tables
- Assigned translation status to duplicated content
- Set the language information
- Corrected post type assignments for translations
The translated page remains visible and does not disappear.
