Background of the issue:
I want to auto-translate everything except for the actual article text on my site. This includes menus, all string data, and image text, but not the articles themselves, which need to be done manually.
Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.
Questions:
What settings can I use in WPML to auto-translate everything except the actual article text?
Hello There,
Thanks for reaching out to WPML Support.
I understand what you're looking for. If you have automatic translation enabled on your site, you can prevent entire posts from a specific post type from being automatically translated.
- Navigate to "WPML > Settings" and scroll down to "Post Type Translation".
- You'll see a switch on the "Translate Automatically" column with each Post Type. Toggle the Switch to the OFF state for the Post type that you don't want to translate automatically.
Please check this screenshot(hidden link) for a better understanding.
However, if you want only specific sections of content to not be translated automatically, this won’t be possible without custom coding. If you’re adding content through custom fields, you can set the translation preference for those fields to "Not Translatable," and the content won't be translated automatically. However, if you're entering content through the Gutenberg Editor, the option to prevent specific sections from being automatically translated isn't available.
If you decide to go with the custom coding approach, I recommend hiring a developer from our certified contractor list as this falls beyond the scope of our support. I hope you understand.
Let me know if there is anything else you need help with. I will be happy to assist.
Best regards,
Prosenjit
