Background of the issue:
I am trying to edit some old posts in the original language which have been 100% translated using Block Editor. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link
Symptoms:
All WP List blocks turned to 'untranslated.' In old articles, List blocks have only one wp-list block. When we edit and save these posts, Gutenberg converts them to the new structure with wp-list-item sub-blocks. However, WPML does not follow this conversion, discards all translated strings of the core/wp-list type, and adds untranslated strings of the core/wp-list-item type.
Questions:
Why are the translations for Gutenberg List Block lost after editing?
How can I ensure that the status of the posts in secondary languages remains 'translated' except for the edited blocks?
I'm Kor and I'm also working on your other ticket. You mentioned that "WP List blocks" are not translatable for this ticket. Could you please highlight it using screenshots so that I could check?
I've checked your translated pages here hidden link and everything looks translated. So I would need more information about this.
Hello Kor,
Sorry for having kept you waiting.
Somehow, the problem disappears on the post I have first mentioned.
However, the problem can be reproduced by editing any old posts that contain wp-list blocks.
For example, I added an extra paragraph block at the end of the following post: hidden link
The attached images are the screenshots of the translation editor before and after the edit.
I've tested the list block here on this test page hidden link and I cannot replicate the issue. Does it happen to all your current tour listings or just the new ones? Could you try replicating the issue on the test page that I created?
If you create a new post with a list block, the block has the new structure from the beginning and there wouldn't be a problem.
The problem occurs when editing old posts that were created with an older version of the block editor.
They have the old structure regarding the list blocks, and upon saving, the newer version of the block editor automatically converts them to the new structure of the list blocks, even when we don't edit the list blocks at all.
I regret any inconvenience caused, but to proceed with troubleshooting, I kindly ask for a snapshot of the site. Alternatively, with your permission, I can create one myself. For this purpose, I typically recommend using the free plugin "Duplicator." If you're already familiar with Duplicator (https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/), please skip the following steps and simply send me the archive file you downloaded.
To guide you further, please adhere to these instructions:
1. View the Duplicator instructions video: hidden link
3. If the archive file exceeds 400MB, please use Duplicator's file filters to exclude cache, wp-uploads directory, media, and archive files.
Once you have the archive file ready, kindly share the link with us. You can utilize platforms like Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar for file sharing, as the snapshot file might be large.
Please note that your next reply will be private, visible only to you and me. You can paste the file link there. Rest assured that once the issue is resolved, I will delete the local site.
