Tell us what you are trying to do? Hello, We are trying to remove the old associated content of two languages that we deleted, but it doesn't work.
Every time we click on the delete button, it's runs for 20-30 seconds and stops deleting just a few items. Is there a way to force it to run till completion?
Your assistance is much appreciated

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I understand what you're looking for. The time required for the deletion process can vary based on the volume of content present in each post type. At present, it is not possible to for the deletion to be completed in one go. It will be necessary to repeatedly click the 'Delete' button(for each post type) until the deletion has been fully executed.

Please be aware that this functionality might not remove the translated taxonomy terms (such as Tags, Categories, or Attributes). These will need to be manually deleted from the site. If the deletion process is stuck, please delete the translated taxonomies manually and try again.

I hope you can understand. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance in this matter. I will be happy to help.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello Prosenjit,

Thank you for your reply.

Actually, I'm having a bit of trouble understanding why this isn't a straightforward step. As you may have noticed in my screenshot, we have over 14K media references, so it would take us hours to click on the button, probably hundreds of times...

If we simply deactivate and uninstall WPML, will these references, taxonomies, and posts suddenly appear on the English version, or will they simply remain in the database but not on the front end?

Regards,
Gilbert

Hi Gilbert,

I can understand your concern. If you deactivate and Uninstall WPML, the translated contents will then start to appear in the default language and will also be visible on the front end.

Please note that you might have to click the "Delete" button separately for each post type, not multiple times for each post type. For instance, during the Media deletion process, clicking "Delete" will remove all items in that category first. Subsequently, you'll be prompted to proceed with deleting content from the next post type, and this pattern will continue. I hope you can understand.

If it is not happening, it is possible that the server resource allocated for your site might not be sufficient to complete the process. Please increase the WP Memory Limit of your site to at least 256M by following the instructions outlined here: https://wpml.org/faq/checklist-before-opening-a-ticket-in-wpml-support/#how-can-i-increase-my-sites-memory-limit

You can also increase the TimeLimit or max_execution_time by following the instructions outlined in this guide: hidden link

Try again after increasing the resources.

Please let me know how it goes. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit

Hello Prosenjit,
Thank you for your message.

In fact, we are not using the translations, which is why we are deleting the languages.
We would like to remove WPML from this website, so my only concern is to deactivate the plugin and suddenly have a lot of taxonomies, posts, menu items, etc., show up on the front-end if we didn't fully remove them with your "delete content" tool.

What would be the best course of action, or are we doomed to delete everything manually?
Again, your assistance is much appreciated.

Gilbert

Hi Gilbert,
Thank you for the update.

In some cases, the deletion process encountered difficulties or failed to function correctly due to not having sufficient resources available on the website. That's why, I recommended reassessing the situation by increasing the memory limit and the `max_execution_time`.

As previously mentioned, the deletion tool might not effectively remove all site taxonomies. Hence, it will be necessary for you to manually delete these taxonomies. The deletion tool provided by WPML should be capable of handling the removal of the remaining content without any need for manual intervention.

Please increase the website's resources(memory_limit and max_execution_time) and try the process once more, as this took is enough to delete all translated contents. However, if the problems persist, a more detailed examination will be required to pinpoint the root cause.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated.

You will find the needed fields below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Maybe I'll need to replicate your site locally. For this, I’ll need to temporarily install a plugin called “Duplicator” or "All in One WP Migration" on your site. This will allow me to create a copy of your site and your content. Once the problem is resolved I will delete the local site. Let me know if this is ok with you.

IMPORTANT
-Please backup site files and database before providing us access.
-If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box. The private box looks like this:

Looking forward to your response.

Best Regards,
Prosenjit
