[Resolved] Importing products from one website to another in 2 languages
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are building a new website and trying to move all products in two languages from one site to another. You followed the WPML export and import documentation, but the products only imported in Spanish, and the English versions did not import. Solution: If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend that you first go to WPML > Export & Import and set up the import dialog before running the import. After running the import, you should again visit WPML > Export & Import and run the dialog to connect the imports.
Please note that this solution might be irrelevant if it’s outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
Background of the issue:
I am building a new website for my client and trying to move all the products in 2 languages from hidden link to the new website hidden link. I followed the documentation on WPML export and import.
Symptoms:
The products only imported in one language, Spanish. The English versions did not import.
Questions:
Is it possible to import all the English versions of the products as well?
I apologize for the delay in responding. I will take care of this ticket; the reply time will be shorter now.
What Andreas meant was that you can share a download link. You can upload the file to the service of your choice (WeTransfer, Google Drive, Dropbox) and share the link with us.
I am making the next reply private so you can share the link safely. There's no need to share credentials.
You can choose what to do with already imported products (skip, update). But I suggest removing the already imported and importing the new file from scratch.
The original language of an imported product will be the same as the exported product. And the same with the translations; they will keep the source language as in the export.
So, I think this is expected, and there is no feature to change this behaviour.
But this shouldn't affect the behaviour of your site.
Best Regards,
Otto
