This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client has a site with about 140 pages manually translated into Spanish and wants to know how to use these pages with WPML without creating two separate Spanish websites.
Solution:
1. Use WPML to set English as the default language and Spanish as the secondary language.
2. Duplicate the existing Spanish pages into the Spanish language created by WPML.
3. Manually link the original English pages with their Spanish duplicates following the instructions provided here: https://wpml.org/faq/how-to-link-already-translated-pages/.

We have a new client site that has the WPML plugin installed, but we have not set it up yet.
We are making some changes to their existing site, but it has about 140 pages that have been manually translated into Spanish.
Is there a way to use those pages with WPML? It seems like if we turn on WPML and tellit not to translate those pages, we'll basically have 2 Spanish websites that don't interact with each other. Is there a way to overcome that?

If you need to look, the site is hidden link

Thanks

Hi there.

The only option here is to duplicate the existing Spanish pages into the Spanish secondary language that you create with WPML in the wizard process (select EN as the default language and then Spanish as the secondary one) and then, you will have to do some manual work in connecting the current EN pages with their "translations" (the duplicates that you created):

I hope that you will find this information helpful. 🙂
