This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is receiving notifications from Wordfence about obsolete WPML plugins that have not been updated for 3-4 years and is wondering if they can disable these plugins without affecting site functionality or if there are plans to update them for compatibility with the latest version of WordPress.
Solution:
We assure the client that the plugins in question are still safe to use despite not being updated, as there have been no changes to their code. If the client is using the features provided by these plugins with their current theme, we recommend keeping them. For more information, we provide documentation links:

If the client is not using the features from these plugins, we suggest they can remove them, but advise to make a backup before doing so.

If this solution does not seem relevant, we invite the client to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.

Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.

Hello,

I use Wordfence, and when I scan my site, I always receive the notification about obsolente WMPL plugins, which have not been updated for almost 3-4 years).

Can I disable these plugins and all functionality will work or do you plan to update them in order to be compatible with latest version of WordPress?

Hello there,

Thanks for your contact!

The position of our dev team is that the plugins are still safe to use. There were no changes to the plugins code, and this is why they haven't been updated during these years.

If you need their features and you are using them with your theme, you can keep them without any worries. Please check more info in our related docs:

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/sticky-links/
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/site-navigation/

However, if you installed them at some point and did not use the features with your current theme, you can simply remove them. Just make sure to have a backup if you're going to do that.

Please let me know if this helps to answer your question.

Regards,
Mateus.
