This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
If you're unable to access your WordPress site and can only operate in recovery mode, with the frontend not working, it might be due to a compatibility issue between WPML and WordPress versions.
Solution:
First, ensure you create a full website backup. Then, you have two options:
1. Update WordPress to the latest version before enabling the latest WPML plugin version.
2. Downgrade WPML to the previous version, 4.6.8, which you can download from here. To do this, remove the current WPML plugin from your site, navigate to Plugins > Add New > Upload, and install the downloaded version.
Alternatively, you can try the WPML 4.6.10 beta version, which you can also download from the same link. After backing up your website, disable and delete the current WPML plugin, then upload and install the beta version through Plugins > Add New > Upload.
Please note that the solution provided might be outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the issue persists, please open a new support ticket with us.
