This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You need to update the WPML settings in the website backend after changing the website name.
Solution:
If you're experiencing this issue, we recommend you follow these steps to re-register WPML:
1) Visit https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/
2) If the old site URL is no longer needed, delete it from the list.
3) Enter the new site URL to create a new site key.
4) Click on "Show key" and copy it.
5) Navigate to Plugins > Install > Commercial (tab) in your WordPress backend and enter the key to re-register WPML. If WPML is still registered, de-register it first.
You can verify if WPML is registered correctly by going to WPML > Support > Installer Support.

This solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hello,

WPML must be re-registered after every website migration or after changing the domain or domain provider.

1) Go to https://wpml.org/de/account/websites/

2) If the old site URL is not longer needed, delete it from the list.

3) Now enter the new site URL again. This creates a new site key.

4) Click on "Show key" and copy it.

5) Enter the key under Plugins > Install > Commercial (tab) to re-register WPML. If WPML is still registered here, de-register it first.

You can verify now if WPML is registered correctly at WPML > Support > Installer Support (the last link on the page).

Best regards
Andreas
