Background of the issue:
I want English as the default language on my website hidden link. I need two languages available: English and German. The SEO titles and meta descriptions should match the selected language.

Symptoms:
No specific issue or error message mentioned.

Questions:
How can I set English as the default language on my website?
How can I ensure that SEO titles and meta descriptions match the selected language?

I want the website to have English as the default language, just like it is currently in German. There should also be an option for the client to switch to German. When I switch to English, the meta title and description should also appear in English.

The site’s default language setting (as explained here: https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/displaying-untranslated-content-on-pages-in-secondary-languages/manage-archive-listings-default-language-change/#what-happens-when-you-change-your-sites-default-language) only controls which language will open when someone first visits the site.

However, changing the default language does not automatically translate the content itself. For example, if a page was originally created in German with German text and SEO metadata, those will remain in German. To have them appear in English, they need to be translated and set up accordingly.

Could you confirm if what you’re asking is only about switching the default language, or if you also want the actual page content and meta details translated into English? That way I can clarify further and guide you on the best approach.
