Thanks for the quick response! That worked perfectly!
However we're running into a new issue where changes made within an Elementor button, for example the link, it's not registered in translation editor. It remains at an older previous link.
Is there a way to clear the translation cache or re-index the translations?
We will continue troubleshooting the issue on this ticket.
1) I would suggest to clear the website's cache (server-side included).
* Normally when you update an element on the default language, an automatic update is triggered on the translation.
In your case, if I understood correctly, the change in the default language is not being updated on ATE but only on the Elementor page (or is not being saved even on the Elementor page).
2) Could you please follow the steps below:
- Go to WP-Admin -> WPML -> Settings ->Translate Link Targets
- Click the "Scan now and adjust links" button and wait for the process to finish
I am sorry about that, that feature shouldn't affect content except what's already on the website (only the links).
- Could you please tell me more about how you set up the website?
* Normally even if you have used a website with basic information/translation, the translation memory is updated upon each update you make on the website's translation (post, pages, etc.).
- Did you clear the cache of the website?
---
* Make sure you have a full backup of your website before making any updates/changes on your website.
Then please go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting page, then click the following and on the Clean Up section press the following buttons one by one and wait for each process to finish:
- Clear the Cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Fix WPML table collation
- Set language information
- Fix post type assignment for translations
We've tried all of those but that didn't seem to work. We do however probably have some hidden content from an other language.
As we've copied the site from a site which main language is NL. What's the best way to make sure the main language of all templates/pages etc. is changed to English?
I would need temporary access to your website to investigate this issue and understand it better. I would need access to your site's WP-admin (please create an administrator user using any email address you prefer).
Please fully back up your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
Your next reply is set to private for you to provide the username and password details.

Could you please send me a link to the page with the button you are having problems with and the steps you follow, so I can check?
1) I will further check the issue and update you as soon as possible.
2) Regarding the issue with the notification message, please try following these steps:
#1. You need to select on both development websites that the live domain remains the domain for the site and that the site has not been moved (go to the development website/s domain backend and indicate that the website should remain on the live website domain).
#2. You need to use different keys per each different domain.
#3. If you set your WP_HOME and WP_SITEURL dynamically in your wp-config.php you will get reminded that the site was moved, without actually being moved.
