Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate content directly in Elementor for a site under development. Before the April update, this was possible, but now I encounter issues.

Symptoms:
I receive an error message indicating that if I don't use the Advanced Translation Editor, the translations will be lost.

Questions:
Should I press 'Edit anyway' in Elementor and proceed with design and translation edits?
Will the translations still work if I edit directly in Elementor despite the error message?

Thank you for reaching out to WPML support. While one of my colleagues reviews your ticket, I’d like to provide some initial guidance that may help resolve the issue.

Please note that editing a translated page using the Elementor Editor is not recommended if the translation was originally done using the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), as any manual changes may be overwritten the next time the page is retranslated.

If you still prefer to edit the translation manually, you’ll need to switch the translation method from ATE to manual translation. You can follow the steps outlined in our documentation here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/translating-your-contents/using-different-translation-editors-for-different-pages/

Let us know if you need help with this process or if you have any other questions.

Hi, thanks for the reply.

So far - all the content was always translated manually through Elementor, ATE was never used. So I assume we can then ignore the warning and just continue translating it through Elementor?

2ndly - the documentation is a bit confusing. I understand the steps if you are using WordPress Editor. But we are using Elementor. When we follow your instructions, the popup comes up asking "What do you want to translate with the WordPress Editor?" . Do i understand correctly - we can just select "this page" for all of our pages and we won't get the error message anymore?

Thanks for your reply. Could you edit the primary language page and let me know if you see the "Translate this document" option as shown in the attached screenshot? If it's not there, I will need to closely examine your website. Therefore, I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.

Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.

Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.

✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
