Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate texts in admin screens on my site hidden link using WPML. I increased memory limit and max memory limit but I still get fatal error. I have provided some URLs and credentials for reference.
Symptoms:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 20480 bytes) in /home/imsakia/public_html/wp-content/plugins/sitepress-multilingual-cms/vendor/wpml/collect/src/Illuminate/Support/Collection.php on line 868. Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.
Are you getting those errors while translating the strings from the WPML>>String Translation screen? Have you enabled the *Track where strings appear on the site* option in WPML>>String Translation?
Also, please increase the *MaxInputVars* of PHP settings to *10000*. Refer to the following article for more details or contact your system admin/hosting provider for this purpose.
I'm Osama from WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
Best regards,
Osama
