Hi, I can see that on the Dutch and Finnish translations, the reviews are displayed. Otherwise, can you please tell me how you added the reviews section? If you need further help with this, please share the access details to your site with me. I'm enabling a private message for the following reply. Privacy and Security Policy |

Hi, I've visited Testimonials -> Testimonials, and, if I'm not mistaken, I don't see Testimonials in German or Finnish. I was looking for 'bewertungen' and 'anmeldelser'. The way that the Testimonials are inserted on the page is with a shortcode. Please see the attached screenshot control_testimonials.jpg. It seems that the Testimonials don't work with WPML. (It might be a compatibility issue with the plugin that creates the Testimonials (control-testimonials) post type. So it seems that your developer has added the shortcode for Testimonials by editing the translated Reviews pages with Elementor. So to add reviews in German and Norwegian, you need to create them and copy the shortcode to add it to the respective translations with Elementor. Please note that in WPML -> Settings -> Post Types Translation, I can see that the post type Testimonials (control-testimonials) is set to Not Translatable. I'm unsure why your developer chose to do things in this way. Maybe it is, as I mentioned, because of a compatibility issue with the plugin that adds Testimonials (control-testimonials). Regards, |

Hi Itamar, Thank you for your detailed message and for pointing this out. It’s not a problem for us to recreate the Testimonials in German and Norwegian using the shortcode – we’ll go ahead and do that. However, what raises concern for us is that these pages were previously working perfectly and have now disappeared without any changes on our side. Our main worry is that even after we recreate them, the same issue might happen again and the content could disappear, just like it did before. That’s what we’re hoping to avoid long-term. If there’s anything you can advise or check regarding what might have caused this behavior (especially related to the ID changes or the plugin compatibility), we’d greatly appreciate it. Best regards, |

Hi, Linda. I'm sorry, but I can only relate to the current situation. I can't know what went wrong if I can't see it or replicate it. It might have been an update to the Control Testimonials plugin. The Control Testimonials plugin is unknown to us and might probably be incompatible with WPML. However, it seems to work in a few languages but not in Norwegian and German. Are the Norwegian and German testimonials present in Testimonials -> Testimonials? You wrote: "However, our developer noticed that the pages are being assigned new IDs" Also in WPML -> Settings -> Post Types Translation, the Testimonials (control-testimonials) post type is set to Not translatable. Please see the attached screenshot. Regards, |

Hi Itamar sorry for late response, Our developer mentioned that the page IDs used to be the same number, but now they are not. He is wondering what updates have been made recently that could have caused this change. The Reviews do exist in the Testimonials segment, but they are no longer connected. They were originally translated through WPML, but now they are not showing up there. Could you please check what might have happened and let us know? Best regards, |

Hi, Linda. You wrote: "Our developer mentioned that the page IDs used to be the same number, but now they are not. He is wondering what updates have been made recently that could have caused this change." I'm sorry, but this still sounds confusing to me. I genuinely don't understand how different pages can have the same ID. It is not possible with WordPress. In any case, WPML doesn't change the ID of a page. Translated pages will get their unique IDs. You also wrote: "The Reviews do exist in the Testimonials segment, but they are no longer connected. They were originally translated through WPML, but now they are not showing up there. Could you please check what might have happened and let us know?" This is precisely what I mentioned in my previous reply. It seems that someone accidentally changed in WPML -> Settings -> Post Types Translation, the Testimonials (control-testimonials) post type to Not translatable. You should set it to Translatable - only show translated items. Please see the attached screenshot. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Regards, |

In Settings → Post Types Translation, the Testimonials (control-testimonials) post type was originally set to Not translatable. I changed it to Translatable – only show translated items, as per the attached screenshot. However, after changing the setting, the page became empty. When I switched it back, the reviews page was still missing. So I guess there’s still an issue. I’m sorry — my developer doesn’t explain things in more detail. I’ll update you on that. |

Hi, and thanks for trying my suggestions. I can see that the hidden link">English original page is empty. I really can't see how the change in the settings of Testimonials could have caused this. Please consider restoring your site to a backup before you made this change. I can see that Testimonials (control-testimonials) is set now to Not translatable. Please leave it like that, as it seems this is not the issue. Please allow me to take a copy of your site. For this, I must install a plugin like Duplicator or All In One Migration. Please let me know if you agree. Please note that my weekend hours are Friday to Saturday. If you need further assistance, I'll be available to continue checking this issue and helping you next week.
